2013 Foliage Update
	OBSERVATIONS AND OUTLOOK: THE 2013 FFOLIAGE SEASON is now over. WEEKEND OF 11/16-17: The foliage season is largely over; just isolated trees and warm spots with yellows; and enough brown leaves on hillsides to look good at sunrise/sunset. Current stage is just about done. WEEKEND OF 11/8-9: Most trees are reddish-brown or without leaves; but sporadic patches of yellow trees are keeping the season alive. Good views of the hills in the warm light of sunrise/sunset. Current stage is late. WEEKEND OF 11/2-3: Friday was windy; last Saturday was windy. Many trees are now without leaves. Frost 10/23-10/26 has the last of the trees turning and a few are bright. Spotty color in colder areas, more widespread in warmer areas. Many hills are attractive in the warm light of sunrise and sunset. Current stage is late, but many areas are still nice. WEEKEND OF 10/26-27: Higher altitudes are again brighter in spots, as the older dull leaves have fallen; actually, a lot of leaves have fallen -- in some spots they're gone. Lower altitudes have a lot of color; but this season generally lacks the widespread bright color of other years. Current stage is mid-late. Don't wait. WEEKEND OF 10/19-20: Higher altitudes are duller than normal, with a good amount of brown. Lower altitudes and spots near water are brighter but early, with a lot of green still there. Current stage is middle. WEEKEND OF 10/12-13: There is widespread color but with wide variation from place to place (there has been no significant frost as yet). Some leaves were lost to wind during the storm Monday; but a lot held on, particularly the green leaves. This has temporarily dulled the color. Current stage is middle. WEEKEND OF 10/5-6: The season has begun with spotty color; some early trees are vivid, particularly in the higher-altitude valleys. Some red against green. Some browning. Current stage is early.
